War Report

The battle has not gone well and it is up to you to write a report explaining to the queen what happened. Keep it short and snappy, but try to add a few lyrical flourishes to soften the blow.

In war it can be easy to see casualties on the battlefield as faceless pieces, sacrificed to further the cause. In this short narrative game, you must create the story behind a series of chess moves. From a small bit of chess notation, two diagrams, and a cast of characters, write a account of the battle that will do justice to the living and the dead.
